Whats the best natural treatment for eczema?
- I have heard of many who have apparently found eczema to be the symptom of a gluten / wheat allergy, so going gluten - free / wheat - free has been their solution. It might be wise to check out gluten - free / wheat - free / celiac websites or have allergy testing done with an allergist, Naturopathic Physician or other physician. Take good care
- Eczema causes extreme dryness. So, it is very important the affected areas are kept moistened, and any drying agents like soap and detergents should not be allowed to come in contact with the affected parts. Moistening agents like creams like Diprobase or bathing oils should be used. If using creams, it should be reapplied when it dries up - the most flaky areas should get the thickest layer of cream. Mix of liquid and soft paraffins can also be used as a moistening agent. To counter the irritation and itchiness, antihistamines should be used. And antibiotics may be used if some infection results through the flaked skin. For treatment, Wikipedia en. wikipedia.org / wiki / Eczema#Cortico s says. i "Derma is is often treated by doctors with prescribed Glucocorticoid a cortico ointments, creams or lotions. For mild - moderate eczema a weak may be used e. g. Hydrocortisone or Desonide, whilst more severe cases require a higher - potency e. g. Clobetasol propionate. They are highly effective in most cases, but must be used sparingly to avoid possible side effects, the most significant of which is that their prolonged use can cause the skin to thin and become fragile atrophy. High strength s used over large areas may be significantly absorbed into the body causing bone demineralisation osteoporosis. Finally by their immunosuppression action they can, if used alone, exacerbate some skin infections fungal or viral. If using on the face, only a low strength should be used and care must be taken to avoid the eyes. " / i
- Is your excema from Asthma? Or Allergic Reaction? Find out. Aloe Vera, Colomine Spelling? lotions are good for rash. Eat fruit and green leafy vegetables for cell repair and skin suppleness. Good luck
- I have dealt with eczema for around 15 years, and I have tried it all. OTC and prescriptions. As far as I am concerned, the best thing you can do is to use lotion, preferably Aveeno or some other type of allergy type lotion right when you get out of the shower or bath. do not even dry yourself off, just start slathering the stuff on. I also use Vitamin E oil, also putting it on right after bath. And put it on any time you feel itchy. Also, cold packs work great for itch, do not scratch - of course you know that it makes it worse. Eczema thrives with dry skin, so try to keep your skin as hydrated as possible. Never, never wash the area where you are broken out with a normal type soap, in fact do not wash it at all with soap. It was recommended to my by a doctor that when I am having a particularly bad and widespready break out to only wash my "parts" privates, underarms when taking a shower, because even water will dry your skin out. I have found Dove to be the best soap with very little irritation or contribution to dry skin. If you have eczema in your scalp which I do most of the time, use Neutrogena T Gel, Nizoral, or some other medicated shampoo used for dandruff & derma us. They are kept in the section, not in the shampoo aisle. Eczema can also be an allergic reaction. Take some type of anti histamine. I take Reactin, but Claritin and even Sudafed can help a lot. Most of all, change it up. It seems to me if I use any one thing for too long for example I used exclusively Aveeno Lotion for over two weeks I kind of become immune to it. So I usually switch up with the lotion and the Vitmine E oil every couple of days. If your home has dry air, and especially in the winter, use a humidifier. Put it right in your bedroom next to your bed. DO NOT use any scented lotions, scented oils, perfumes if you must wear perfume, spray it on your clothing that does not touch your skin rather than right on your skin, however it can still irritate that way sometimes, scented body washes, overly scented laundry detergent or fabric softener I can only use certain types of detergent and NO fabric softener, some types of food allergies contribute to eczema so be aware of what you are eating citrus fruits, food or drink containing red coloring - are two things that I have been sensitive to in the past. I am so sorry that you have eczema, unfortunately it is a lifelong battle. But it can be manageable. These are all the tips I can think of right now, but there are many web sites on eczema. I know it sounds like a lot, but its a small price to pay for itch relief
